Darkman you missed the info on the 811's including the possibility of a bad component on the 811's

The dealer chat thread over at satelliteguys also mentioned that re-manufactured 501's would be available to current customers for $149 with no monthly DVR fee too. I am tempted buy this deal, I would like to know weather these re-manufactured 501's still have original 40GB HD or if the HD has bean upgraded? With $0/mo DVR fee, even if they only have 40G, $149 seams like a good deal.

hehe, Scott ------> I didn't miss Anything :) - as I ONLY type what i want to type or what sounds to me more or less interesting.. - I never did or do the complete recap.. 811s do not Interest me whatsoever at this point.. same as HD tv for example.. (I only posted about 921s - cuz it caught my eye (or ear) at the moment it was on...
BTW - Scott - i visited your site earlier... and some dates you entered there are inaccurate.. - i forgot which ones already.. but something like April 12th vs. April 14th, etc, etc.. was 2 for for sure..
Unless you fixed it already..
Otherwise compare the dates i put with the dates for the same things.. that you entered... ;)
But again - I didn't miss ANYTHING.. - cuz i only type what seems more or less interesting to me.. and in the Thread names ...in most cases.. i put a word "some" (like in "some" info.. not ALL or a complete recap)))))
justalurker - they didn't (re: Sirius Music date).. - something like that i d mention here.. However in the past was mentioned already .. the approx time for those to arrive.. - Summer time .. or June or something like that i believe..
kstevens - No YES nor explanation why not, etc (i believe)...
as to 921s and their problems.. - didn't really pay attention (as it didn't really interest me)... All i recall they said "Some good news for 921s.. blah blah.. some problems are solved..and they gonna start the production of those again)
"I think good news for 921s.. they will start producing them again (Had some problems before)"
~"some problems"???? they had tons of problems everything from A-Z was going wrong on them.
"E* is very excited to announce new Game - "Trivia" - (from Buzztime play along TV)... (will find it under games menu.. not sure if currently or upcoming"
I have the Buzztime trival channel on digital cable in my area, my local TWC uses at as another way to put down satellite TV in their ad's, now they can't!!!!!! :
The Trivia Game is currently being spooled for compatiable receivers (ITV) and the 501's being reman'd and the upgraded HD comment. Doubtful. What makes a 501 a 501 is the HD capability. If it was anything more it would be a 508/10

So Matt, since when does the 501 have HD capability?

I'd read that as HD capacity ... as in HARD DRIVE capacity. Makes sense that way.

At $99 for a 510, it comes out to under $160 the first year. Personally, I've opted for the 250% increase in hard drive capacity of the 510 for the extra $10.

Matt, you never answered my JVC question, You said it will never be Dish 500 ready. Will Dish offer a Swap? And what If I don't want to swap?

Sorry about that. Any current receiver activated on the account is eligable for a upgrade (unless its an upgrade itself). If you dont want to swap, then I would recommend us doing another room install, so you can keep both or just buy one from a retailer. The whole purpose of the whole upgrade program is to get rid of what you have and to get something new.

Thanx, But I live alone in a 1 bedroom and record stuff in the JVC, take it to my store and watch it in a VCR there. With DVR, I can't do that.
Or
Put a reminder on the DVR, record it an Separate VCR with timers on it.
JVC can't act a stand-alone VCR wihout the smart card, so it would be wasted

Hey darkman, I am impressed. After speaking with you over e-mail sometime back ago, well, what I guess I am trying to say is, I'm just amazed that you like to talk about sat tv alot more than actually watching it. But than again, nothing good is on tv anyways, it can't compete with internet. Don't mind me, I havent been online in over a while. Excuse me if I don't make sense.
Hard Disk Drive = HDD
High Definition = HD
501 DVR
811 High Definition
Should be explaination enough...
Hey all. Great site here! Am I reading my screen correctly? La Crosse WI may actually get locals in the somewhat near future? Incredible! :D

But that is only the savings for the first year, if I purchased a DVR it would be for several years unless I changed providers. Heck I still use my original 2000 receiver that I got way back in 96 and a 2700 I purchased at a Target clearance sale a few years back. As much as a I might like to I do not switch receivers every time a new one comes out. :)

I wouldn't keep it for much more than a year, myself. The technology changes too fast. By that time, an affordable (and functioning) HD PVR might be available, or I might move to a location where I can aim a dish for DirecTV. But, for people that do keep their Dish receivers forever, the refurb 501 sounds like a good deal. For me, the 510 makes better sense.
(BTW,are you still using a 386 PC?)

I don't replace PCs every year either. And that 386 would be a lot more than a year old.

I regret believing rumors of dish network getting Wausau locals because that is the main reason I picked it over DirecTV.

Badgerman,
I haven't heard that Wausau was abandoned yet so don't give up hope. It's just an observation. Dish does have quite a bit of room at 105/121 left. And when AMC12 gets to 105 and E*10 gets to wherever it will end up (110° I think), then I foresee all 210+1unranked markets with mostly cooperative locals being covered within two years.
