Cable has more of an advantage than dish. And in some cases, can even be cheper if a person justs subscribes to a basic digital package for 4 tvs. Well, hopefully, Charlie can add more HDs.

DirecTV and Dish Network are falling WELL behind in the HD competition. I can understand DirecTV's excuse because they are EXTREMELY short on space, but it seems Dish has room for at least 1 or 2.

I see the DBS boys as "the little engines that could." I will never go back to cable. If anything, I want to see more competition in the broadcast industry. It bothers me greatly to see the big conglomerates just getting bigger.

I too feel there is not enough competition in the DBS providers. There nees to be a lot more, like telephone providers. A person in a given area usually has at least 4 options.

I get Adelphia in Santa Monica California in addition to voom, and i don't get espn hd, or inhd 1 or inhd 2 or hdnet. Is adelphia's lineup different in east and west coast if so isn't that ridiculous

My understanding is that if you don't have them now, you will soon. I would contact them and ask.

The mgr of the local Adelphia told me last October that they were ugrading the headend & would rollout HD by year-end. They're still upgrading and I'm still waiting. I had to go ahead and make my HD programming decisions without even info on their lineup or rates.

My greatest disappointment with HD is E* and their abject failure to add new HD programming as promised. They've gone from the self-proclaimed HD "leader" to just another provider who can't deliver the goods. I get only six usable HD channels from Dish and one of those, ESPN, is in BD (bogus definition).

There have been no new additions, not even half-baked promises any longer. What is it g oing to take and how much more is it going to cost us?

I'm getting very close to ordering HD from Voom.

I have to agree with Nick. The HD offerings on E* are pretty marginal. A few decent games during the Madness but often there was this stretch to fill the screen. In all honesty, the Networks and PBS have the best HD offerings and I can get all of them OTA including 3 different PBS stations. Hardly worth my$10/month. PPV HD IMHO is not worth the cost. I'll take properly formatted DVDs from Netflix instead. No burbs or breakups and they scale very nicely from the HTPC.

In all honesty, if my HD Toshiba blew up tomorrow, I would just replace it with a 36" SD set. There just isn't enough HD programming yet from anyone to make it worth spending the extra $1000+ on a HD set again. I would just watch the HD signals downconverted to 480i until there was much more HD programming.

Cable's problem isn't the HD, it's the vast number of franchises that have sub par analog tiers is the big problem with cable. The bigger the TV the worse it looks.
