I finally had enough of my 811 downloading the program guide 2 or 3 times everytime I powered it on and then only having 1 hour of program guide anyway so I called today.

The 2nd level tech searched the 'known issues' list and guess what? No mention of the 811's having any problem with the program guide. She went on to say that DN thinks the latest software for the 811 solved that problem.

She also said that, 'Nobody else is complaining about it anymore.'

Just wanted to post that info.

Mine only down loads once a day, when I turn it on. Once it has downloaded, I have about 45 hours of guide. I agree with her, the problem is solved. If anything is wrong, then it would have to be with your unit.

It's not saying I like the way they solved it. It would be nice if the receiver would download the guide when it was in stand by, rather than first access.

George is your 811 on a switched outlet? If it is this may be the problem.

Many people complain of multiple downloads each day, including myself. Plus, there's the incorrect (transposed) program info, and "no info available" issues that a number of people have reported. I'd have to say it ain't quite solved.

This seems to be the Dish standard response for any probelm they don't want to address. The guide problem, dropped OTA channels, and "Acquiring Satellite Signel" errors have pushed me over the edge. I called Dish today and canceled my service. Love the picture, but hate the 811. It's back to cable (Time Warner gave me 50% off for a full year) and a new OTA receiver for me. Sorry Dish-- you've got to do better.

There are at least two EPG issues on the 811 KRI list. They're slated to be fixed in the next two software updates, I think.

Same thing happens to both my 811s. Almost every time I turn them on, I have to wait for the guide to be downloaded. And it always hangs for a period of time at the end. I'm getting very tired of it by now. This is NOT how a receiver should work!

This is a joke, right? I mean the guide problems being fixed is a joke, right? I'm not talking about the 811 in general, I think. ;)

My guide WAS working pretty good until the 265 download. Now I very rarely get more than a few hours of good info and have to do a couple of switch checks a day just to get usable info. I can NEVER get more than 4 or 5 hours out . 9 out of 10 mornings I have to run a check switch just to get the reciever to aquire a good lock on all 3 sats.
Any way you cut it Dish has done a extreamly POOR job of implementing the 811 into service. Basically we have all been beta testers and PAID for the privilage.
What a chicken SH*T way of doing business..

I was having the problem with my guide showing only about 2 hours of info and followed the suggestion of rebooting via pressing and holding the power button on the receiver for 15 seconds. Lo! and behold! I have 2 days of info again. Not saying that there isn't an underlying problem -- just that this seemed to fix things for the moment.
