Well I got my new Dish 500 smart card for my 6000 in last week. Put it in and lost my timers (well the correct number of timers were in there but the times and the channels were messed up).
I removed the timers. I was then unable to create new timers. Every time I tried to make a new timer, the box would lock up generating the channel list and then reboot.
I wiped NV ram, I removed the smartcard/reinserted, I unplugged, rebooted, ran switch tests over and over. No amount of cajoling would get the channel list back up.
Since there was no massive outcry on the net about broken 6000s, I decided that my problem was maybe being caused by my particular set up... The 6000 was connected to 4 satellites, 119/110/105/61.5, I had hooked it up to 105 a while back when it was going to be the HD spot. Since I was looking at 105 for no real reason (except to get the congratulations you have a SuperDish 105).
Well I took off the 105 satellite. Reset the unit, did a switch test, now I can add timers again.
Which makes me wonder if the new smartcard when activated takes up more memory and that makes the channel list no longer fit in memory when connected to four satellites. If this is the case, the DPP44 switch could be useless for the 6000.
If there is a new satellite going to be used for HDTV (Like 105.5DBS) and 6000 users want to go to 4 satellites, there might be some snags.
