How would a DIRECTV system be grounded when installed on an airplane?
LOL
It isn't when they are flying. the second the wheels (not the rubber) contact the ground, it is, and the airplane releases its charge to the ground.

Didn't know they had wheels that weren't rubber. What are they and where are they located? I just assumed everything was grounded like in a car, to the chassis and never to the earth.
some planes, including JetBlue's have little metal wheels that come down and contact the ground during landing. Others release their charge when the metal loading platform comes down and hits the ground and other when they hit the loading dock.
I thought they had it grounded to the cold water pipe in the lavatory!

To the aircraft's external skin. Because the electrical charge will seek the greatest dissipation possible the external surface will gather the entirety of the charge, leaving the internal wiring free from interference.
Once the aircraft touches down, the contact with the ground (through the steel re-inforced wheels and landing gear) will conduct the charge into the earth. Presto! Grounded.
