Ask DBStalk: acquiring signal messages?

I just started getting acquiring satellite signal messages on the CBSHD channel (9484) from the 148 location with my 921 last Thursday. These messages seem to pop up about one or twice an hour for a second or so. The main problem is that I've had two recorded programs terminate early over the last four days. Some other programs completed successfully but I could see brief acquiring signals screens during playback.

Has anyone noticed this on CBSHD or any other HD channel. I'm guessing that it might be related to the change made on 04/14/04 from QPSK to 8PSK since I never had a problem before and I've had my 921 since 01/10/04. The problem might be 8PSK related rather than CBSHD related since I don't watch or record nearly as much from the channels in the HD pack. Any thoughts?

BTW-I just reported this to Dish's advanced technical support. They're aware of a general problem of recordings stopping early but not necessarily involving acquiring satellite signal messages.

I've been having problems with CBSHD on 148 for a long while - but I think it's because I'm using a scavenged old Dish300 that's on an extended arm. In other words, junk hardware issues. It's the cobbler's kids go barefoot thing. :rolleyes: Guess I oughta go finish my own install :sure: and get back to ya.

I think it got weaker when they switched to 8psk, although I only had it a couple of days befor it switched. John
