If I am watching a recorded program, why do I need the little flashing clock to tell me a timer is about to fire?
For that matter, the only time I need that is when the "tuner" I'm using is going to be used to start the recording. Otherwise, it is just an annoyance, IMHO.
What I would like to see is that the flashing clock only happens before the dialog that informs you that your "tuner" is needed for a timed recording.
2 minutes before (5 is really overkill!), clock starts flashing. 30 seconds before dialog appears. Timer starts on time.
5 minutes before is too early. And at this time the dialog appears at the scheduled time, meaning the recording starts 30 seconds late if you don't answer it right away.
I really like the way ReplayTV does it. If you are watching live (o live delayed) and the tuner is needed for a timer, it just puts a banner up across the bottom counting down the 30 seconds to the recording starting. The banner says to press stop to cancel the recording. Doesn't get any simpler than that.
Bottom line, if my viewing is not going to be interrupted I don't need anything flashing on the screen.
