508 Search Bug?

I have a strange problem with my 508 that I have not seen described previously. When doing a search, I get a listing that shows every program twice, one that I can choose and one that I cannot. The one I cannot has a red box next to it. This started about 4 to 6 weeks ago. I figured it was a software upgrade bug that would be fixed soon.. So far, it still exists. It is not a major problem, more like an annoyance. Anyone else have this problem.

Another problem that arose around the same time is the unit locks up if I turn it on and change the channel before the hard drive fully spins up. I have to do a power button reset to bring it back to life. This too is more annoying than a problem.

I have had my 508 for over a year and love it. I also opted for the $1.99 maintenance agreement just in case it should break after the warranty ended.

Any comments would be appreciated.

What are some of the channels that this happens on??

Some channels are in the 800's and are part of the Dish Latino package. They are mirrored in the 800's for easy access for those customers. That might be why.

Locals do the same when I do a search on my 301, it shows up twice, once for the local mapped channel (3,6,8, etc) and one for the actual channel (7575). Hit "info" on one of the red ones, and if its in the 800's, thats the reason.

The best thing to do to resolve the issue is to lock the channels in the 800s that are duplicated, then hide the locked channels. This will get rid of the duplications. I've also locked out my locals in the 8000s to get rid of the duplicates there.

This is very strange, because I'm getting a very similar thing on my 921 when I do a search for programs in Bravo.

In your search these 8xx ch's will be red. Just do as mikew suggested and lock those channels then select hide locked channel option in your locks menu. It will remove any ch you do not want to see in your EPG or when you are searching.
