I just received word from a person in the engineering department that the "thin blue line" problem that some people have been experiencing is in fact NOT a hardware problem, but a software issue that will be fixed with a software update. My contact said that it may not be in the next release (the emergency one), but that it is definitely coming. Tracking down the bugs has been much more difficult in a lot of cases than fixing them has been. (Notice, I didn't say ALL cases...)

I'm telling you this because you no longer will need to RA your 921s to get this fixed. So, no need to send me your contact information.

Good. I figured this was the case by how it was acting. :)

I also was not convinced that it was a hardware issue. Everytime i got it i was able to do a smartcard reboot and it went away. That pointed to software not hardware. Be darned if I was going to send back a good 921 until the result was known... knock on wood again- I have not had a single reboot for a week now since L180 :hurah: ........

Are you sure?? They got rid of the blue light indicator. SimpleSimon is suggesting that we use the PIP winodw placement to tell if it was rebooting.

Should be more specific, have not had the gray screen of death "X" in a week. Do not know what it does when it's not on  . But all timers have fired and NO split recordings. Gets used about 7 hrs a day during week and more on weekends.
