View Full Version : WEEK #14 OPTIONAL POLL: Which Survivor is the FIRST eliminated from the RC?

Trying very hard here to keep ANY spoilers from creeping into this question for our non-spoiler, non-preview people in the game...

Which of the survivors is the first one eliminated from winning the reward challenge?

For a slighly more explanatory version of the question that includes spoilers from the previews: Meaning, which of the survivor's loved ones is the first eliminated from the gross food challenge?

If you choose NOT to vote in this poll, you will still gain the 2 participation points plus 3 additional points. Choosing not to vote in this poll will NOT count against you for the purposes of the last place prize, and it will not count against you for the 25 participation point bonus award at the end of the game.

However, to be elligible for the full 25 Trifecta bonus points, you must vote in both optional polls as well as the non-optional polls, and get all 4 correct.

If you choose to vote in this poll, it is worth 8 points if you get it right plus the 2 participation points. If you choose to vote in this poll and get it wrong, you will lose 10 points.

Poll closes Wednesday April 28th at Midnight EDT.

IF YOU POST A QUESTION OR COMMENT IN THIS THREAD, DO NOT TALK ABOUT WHAT THE NATURE OF THE CHALLENGE IS WITHOUT USING THE SPOILER TAGS! Use the [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] tages to surround your post, without the spaces.

If you do not include the spoiler tags, and include any spoiler at all in your post, you will LOSE 5 POINTS and no longer be elligible for the last place prize!

The 10 negative points, IMO, is a bit harsh since this is a "spoiler-free" OPTIONAL question. Okay, it can't be totally spoiler-free, but still, this is more in the lines of "who get's talked to first" which is more guessing than anything and the upside in points is worth less than the downside!?

Just my $.02. Then again, I haven't looked at any spoiler sites, so maybe they give this away... :)

I think 12 is about right myself. 15 the first week was too much, and 8 last week was too few. The negative points should totally negate the benefit of getting the other optional question correct in my opinion... thus you really want to know what both of them are. (8+2, and the 2 participation for this question = 12)

----

Mark, question clarification:

If this contest is conducted in heats, and more than one is eliminated, but one player is clearly much further behind in the event, is the answer the player most behind, or more than one?

Specifically, say more than one contestants can't get the specific food down in a round, but one refuses to even eat it or doesn't eat nearly as many as the others... is that person the first loser or is it considered more than one?

toddjb - this is not a spoiler-free question...you just need to do some research...

Danny - almost certainly this challenge will be done in heats. In the first heat, if Jeff tells one of the contestants that they're out before the other contestants as the heat progresses, that first contestant's survivor will be the correct answer. If Jeff doesn't tell contestants that they are out until the end of the first heat, then if one of the eliminated contestants flat out refuses to eat one of the items, while other eliminated contestants do at least attempt to eat the items, then I'm going to say the one that refuses to try is eliminated first. However, if they all make the attempt, but more than one of them is eliminated in the first heat, then the answer will be "More than One".

...thanks. no time for research this week so i'll opt out. :)

Don't fret it... all the research might tell you is who possibly wins. I'm guessing on who loses.

Can we talk about this in the clear yet?

I'd prefer if you'd wait until after the episode airs.

Looks like there was no real consensus this week. In the future, I'd think this would make a better non-optional question than optional question, because it doesn't follow the same trend of being easily determined by reading spoilers.

Well, there is the preview clip where Jeff says "no, no... you're out". Measuring the precise angle of his finger, versus the angle of the contestants, I was able to determine exactly whom he was pointing at.

Of course then I had to use video analysis of the background lighting to determine the timeframe when he said this versus the lighting shown when the contest starts. This gave me a good estimate of if it was early in the contest or later.

Analysing the background noises, I could hear soft voices in the background as well. Filtering these out, you can analyse the stereoscopic elements and determine from what angle relative to the microphone these also might come from, and thereby determine who is located where and who might already be eliminated.

Finally a quick call to Mark Burnett confirmed my answer.

That was great, Danny R. So, who is it? j/k

So, who is it?

From this morning's Early Show on CBS, we know...
It's not Jenna and it's probably not "More than one." Here's the transcript from this morning's previews:

JP: Fish heads. Very popular in Malaysia. Everything's gotta go down. Here we go, 3-2-1, eat. First 5 to get it down move on. John's got it all ready, all of it in his mouth.
Shii Ann: Oh my gosh, my mom's not going to be able to finish it.
JP: Lillie fighting it a little bit. That's all right you're getting it done.
Amber: Mom you're almost done.
Jenna: Nice job John, get that down, show them your empty mouth.

Too bad these polls don't close at noon the day of the show. ;)

Nothing personal, Danny, but of course the rest of us  are all rooting against you, since you're still #1.

Who'd you select in this poll, or did you pass on it?

P.S. Mark - It doesn't look like the spoiler tags cover the smilies. I don't want to lose 5 points for this humor, so tell me if I need to edit my post and take down the last smily.

I deleted your icon TStorms. I'm not going to deduct 5 points from you for posting it.

Danny - and you wonder why the polls close the night before... :)

My understanding of Optional questions are that they spoilers might help but that the question should not be easily determined by reading spoilers. The contest is not a internet scaverager hunt from what I understand.

Did you get my email changing my vote before midnight? :)

Nothing personal, Danny, but of course the rest of us are all rooting against you, since you're still #1.

I'd be ashamed if you weren't. ;)

And nothing personal, but victory is meaningless if you can't gloat over all those you trampled to get there. *grin*

Who'd you select in this poll, or did you pass on it?

I took a punt again this week (I've yet to answer any optional polls) betting that those under me would get it wrong because its too random, or would skip them as well.

I have a pretty good idea who wins immunity (Rupert would be my guess), but on this poll there were too many variables. "More than One" would have probably been my guess.

In the past food challenges of this type, usually the first few heats are all or nothing, with no real time limit unless someone is taking far too long. Most folks get past them, with perhaps one person refusing to eat. The third heat is often a race, with the first three or so finishers moving on, and everyone else eliminated, ergo my more than one answer. However the spoilers out this morning seem to indicate that this might not be correct either, so it looks like I picked well in not answering it.

Got it, Cap.

Amber was the first eliminated in the gross food challenge when her mom was the slowest getting the GF down.
