View Full Version : Bug Report: Wrong CD channel plays, No Component HD output when first turned on.
Dish 921

When I tune to channel 959 "Classic Rock," the content from channel 951 "Country Classics" plays.
The problem began four days ago while I was listening to 959. I have been in touch with customer service and have done a dozen reboots. Finally, they said to return it to the dealer for warranty replacement. Dish doesn't have a replacement and neither does my dealer. I really think it's a software issue with the guide (also had only 2 hrs programming after l180 update, but that's fixed). My 311 works as it should and putting the 311 on the 921 feed cable works properly.
Anyone else have this problem?
When I turn on the 921 for the first time of the day, there is no HD output to the component video at 1080i. The blue light is on. When I cycle to SD and back to HD, then it works normally.

What channel are you tuned to when you turn your 921 off the night before?

No specific channel, usually an HBO/Cinemax or CD music channel. I'll note the specific channel next time.

Please do - it makes a difference, especially if it's one of the music channels.
I copied this information from another post:
Channel 959 now has two program streams on it. CD2 normally on channel 951 is being mirrored as the second audio stream on channel 959. It is not available to subscribers at 959. CD10 is playing on channel 959 for standard subscribers. The guess is that this is a test for when the Sirius music channels are added in May.
Looks like customer service (even the supervisor) doesn't know their own systems.
Anyone know how to select which program plays from channel 959?

It appears that if I leave it overnight on a regular channel, there is no problem with the output. If I leave it overnight on a CD music channel, then there is no HD component output in the morning. Even after changing channels or bringing up the guide. When I cycle SD/HD, the picture comes up. Still a bug.
For the other problem, I tried selecting alternate audio from the "languages" menu. Didn't work.

I thought they had fixed that...apparently not.

This happens to me after about 20 minutes. To prevent burn-in, I
turn off the Plasma monitor (attached to 921 with a DVI cable). When
I turn back on the Plasma, no video.
Pushing the SD/HD button a few times clears it up.

This has been happening from the beginning. It seems that if on a CD music channel on start up, it fails to initiate the component output. All I do to fix it is to manually punch in any SD channel number from keypad, ex: 101. Once the channel shows up, all is well. All other buttons such as guide, up/down channel, menu DO NOT work until after getting out of failed output mode.
This never happens with other channels.
HOWEVER, when we were having gray X screen reboots, it would come back on correctly. ???!!!
FYI: I have not had a gray X screen reboot since L180 (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!)
Today, channel 959 on my 921 is playing the correct program content. I guess they stopped testing.
They removed the "extra" 959 channel. BTW: there was no way to select the "extra" channel. It was assigned to an engineering package.
If you have AT180 you might try channel 930 for similar results.
