In the last week, two things have happened to make me wonder if my 2nd (refurbished) 508 is dying. Last Sunday I watched Crossing Jordan, and pvr'd it for my wife. When she went to watch it, there was no sound and the video was just freeze frames, that jumped ramdomly throughout the show. The other incident ocurred why we were watching 24, we had it set to record and about half way into it we started it over, after a few minutes, the screen froze. It did finally unfreeze and we were able to watch it, although the recording stopped, and had I not taped the end, we would've missed it. So, were these two fluke occurences, or is it on it's way out?

this can also happen if your dish is not receiving a cear signal.
Have any trees got new leaves in front of your dish?

Try resetting the system by pressing the front panal power button until the light turns off and then let go.

The freezing happened to me right out of the box if I was recording and watching a previously recorded program at the same time....it never worked right. I went through E* support several times and finally through in the towel and they sent me a new remanufactured unit under the 1 year warranty. Save yourself a bunch of grief, if this is happening on a regular basis and covered by the warranty...just get a new one. I am SO much happier with my new one that WORKS! :hurah:
