When I try to record an OTA channel (which gives a manual stop option only) and then switch to say CBSHD to view, a message appears saying that I can't watch a live channel while recording another (OTA). It then asks if I want to continue recording YES - CANCEL - NO as options. Last night I tried to record Fox OTA digital (America Idol - To many commercials) and watch NCIS on CBSHD on the NEW York Sat feed. Got the message, no matter what tricks I tried I couldn't record one and watch the other or Vice Versa. I even set up a timed record for NCIS, deciding to watch AI. That didn't work. I remember there being a work around, what is it.
Thanks, Don

I think the "workaround" doesn't work with L180 any more.
My wife just left the room in frustration.
Law and Order was recording on 5-1.
We were watching soccer on HDNET.
Then we watched some of a recorded show, stopped, and watched soccer again.
Then I noticed my Law & Order recording had stopped (why did that happen!, maybe I pressed stop while watching the recorded show?).
So, I tuned to 5-1 and started it recording again.
No I'm stuck. I can't watch a DVR show. I can't switch to a Satellite channel. In fact, I can't even turn the damned thing off without getting the stupid message that it needs to stop the recording to do so.
I think I'm about to leave the room in disgust.

While watching the 5 segments that Law & Order ended up in, The Tonight Show was recording, well, the first 39 minutes anyways.
Looks like I need to start not using it while it is recording.
Can't use it while it is recording, can't leave it turned on when there are scheduled recordings, can't, can't, can't.
Don Landis must lead a charmed life.
