View Full Version : L180 Bug Report: Compound circular loop. Lost OTAs can't re-add, edit, record.....

I got home and I found that I lost all of my OTA channels. This happens almost daily now.

I re-scanned them because a timer was set to fire in less than 10 minutes to record "20/20".

As it turns out, after re-scanning them, it lost them AGAIN, in less than 10 minutes because the red light didn't go on to record "20/20". Arghhhhh!!!!!

I learned a trick from someone else on this board that said you could stop the faux recording if you edited the timer end time. Then I would be able to re-scan the channels and watch the program live.

I can't edit the timer now. It said I now have 3 timers to record Friday nights, KGO from 10 to 11! Apparently, when I had this problem before, and edited the timer, it was duplicating it!

It now shows the "Timer conflict!" menu. Shows 3 timers all trying to record at the same time. If I try to delete any timer it says, "The timer you are attempting to edit has already started the recording process. You must stop the recording, then return here to delete or modify it." I can't stop the recording, I wanted to edit the timer to stop the recording but I can't!

It is now 10:17pm, and I can edit one timer to record from 10:00 to 10:17pm. When I do that, it changes two of the timers. The third one is now set from 10pm to 10:01pm. I can't get out of the "timer conflict!" menu because it still says there is a conflict. This is because I can't delete the timers.

I tried setting the third timer from 10pm to 10:01pm, and timer two to 10:05pm to 10:06pm, and the first timer from 10:07pm to 10:08pm to resolve the conflict. However, changing timer one or two changes both timer one or two, so there is ALWAYS a conflict!

I am stuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't get out. I'm missing my program, I've already wasted half an hour on this. I'm going to have to do a couple reboots to be able to re-scan the channels now.

Two reboots later, and I still can't make it stop trying to record! Before L180, it took exactly two reboots before I could access the Local Channels menu. I still can't edit the timers because of the aforementioned circular bureacuracy.

This is rendering my 921 useless for an hour! I can't seem to find a way to re-scan the channels until the fake recording is done.

This is a big step backwards........

I have a strong desire to throw this 921 in the pond in my back yard right now.....

I've had a similar thing happen to me - with no OTA involvement.

I forget the exact details, but I AM sure it was very similar.

Unfortunately, I can't remember how I got out of it - maybe it was by going to Menu-7 and editing them that way. I know I couldn't clear it from the conflict menu.

I'm thinking that Eldon needs a Database Architect (I'm available :) ). Embedded systems guys generally don't get much education in that area - there's already enough for them to learn - and it's been that way as long as I can remember - way back in the mid '70s when I was doing the man-machine interface for a Siemens PBX.

Fortunately, Siemens had a DA watching over my designs. In fact, that's part of how I ended up working with databases.

If it will help them, then they need a database guy!
