I have a receiver that is 1 of 4 subscribed through a superdish. I want to hookup one of the receivers (DP311) to a Dish500 (Twin LNBF) at a different location. I am having problems getting a signal at this new location. I know the Dish 500 (Twin LNBF) is supposed to have an internal switch and therefore would not need an external switch. However, when I run a switch test the receiver does not recognize a switch??? I used to have DTV at this location and know that the view is clear enough for a signal. The Dish500 is used but in good condition. Any suggestions????
-make sure the line from the dish to the receiver is unhooked before you run a check switch. That will clear everything
-rehook up the line and run check switch
You will have to do this everytime you go from a SD to a Dish500 (and vise versa)

Yes but there is a place in the receiver software where I can select a Dish 500 instead of a Superdish......would I still have to do a switch test with the coaxial un-attached to the receiver?

Oh and by the way the receiver is the new (internal EEPROM) cardless model DP311
yes
Any time you switch from one setup to another (legacy to dishpro or dish500 to Superdish) you'll have to run a switch check.
You will also need a signal from both satellites before you can run a succesful switch test. If you are not receiving a signal from both satellites the test result will be no switch detected.
