I've had my 522 for less than a week now, and this is the 2nd time I've been missing numerous subscribed channels. The first time they disappeared it was several hours before they returned. Nothing has returned yet for the the 2nd occurrence. Is this a regular occurrence with dish? Everything appears ok with the 811.
It could be the receiver is having a hard time keeping authoriization. Have you call Dish and troubleshot the problem at all? any resets?
This has happened to me a couple of times. Never could figure any rhyme or reason to it. If you do a front panel reset (hold down the power button on the front of the receiver for 5 or 10 seconds until it reboots the unit) they should come back. At least they did for me.

My 522 did the same thing a few times, but hasn't since I got the SuperDISH upgrade. All you have to do is run a switch test and all the channels appear. It seems to forget where the 110 or 119 dish is sometimes.... Just a 522 thing..lol.. Hopefully my new 522 won't do that, as I just had my 3 month old replaced due to a bad audio tuner on tuner 2. Everything sounded like streaming audio.

Yep! Dish told me to reboot and call if it happens again. Expect I'll get the same answer if I do have to call again.
My showroom 522 has done this fairly frequently usually just doing a switch test cures the problem. This receiver is full of little glitche that I use to sell DirecTiVo. Many small problems with 522 virtually perfect operation with Directv.

Pardon my ignorance ... whats a switch test?
a switch test or a check switch is a test that makes sure the recevier the switch and the dish are all in commuication with each other. you can access this feature through the main menus. On most receivers once your in the main menu, just type in 6-1-3. on the right hand side it'll say check switch, make sure you have signal first before running this test. Select check switch a screen will come up called a "switch Matrix" and at the bottom of the screen itll say test, select that and sit back and let it finish.

Tried the check switch, even though everything was working fine, and ended up losing signal. Had to reboot to get signal back.

It's normal for the 522 to reacquire the signal directly after completing a switch test, and go through steps 1 -5 to acquire the signal and download the program guide again. This process usually takes two minutes. However if things were working okay, you shouldn't have had to reboot. :(

I have had the exact same problem with my 510. I don't know how many channels we loose, but I know all of our east coast distants are gone. If we unplug the receiver and plug it back in, they return. We have two other 508s and they never have that problem. I have had this happen to me twice this week.
It is just the wonderful software DISH writes for their products!!!

Come on People, The 522 is a P.O.S.!
Don't forget, the new 942 is based on this buggy software!
Hooray! More Crap I will have to send back to R/A!
