721 new bug: record enitre event option greyed out

Since the new software update I havent been able to use the record entire event option, its is always greyed out now. This is one option I have used alot in the past so I dont think its user error.

I'm a new 721 owner. I've noticed that this option is usually greyed out, too. The other night I noticed it was selectable when I was partway through a show and pressed the record button. The record menu came up and I chose "record entire event" (which I thought would keep the part which I had already viewed in the buffer). When I did this, the show did not start recording and a cascade of problems followed. I had to recover by a smartcard reset.

Some of the behaviors I saw included:

Exit from the guide with <cancel> did not bring up the show full-screen. The picture stayed in "guide-view" (small, in the upper right corner).

Some buttons did not respond (power, menu)

I could not change channels, via the guide or any other mechanism.

I would say there seems to be a problem with this feature. I'm not really sure what it is supposed to do, though. I haven't read that part of the manual yet.

In case you weren't aware,
you have your 721 on THAT channel from the very start of the program BEFORE you can use the "record entire event" ,
also there is NOW a "buffer the second tuner option" that might be activated in which case the option would not be available,

You can rewind a program(in the buffer) and then record from that point.

Jarrod, This same thing has happened to me on 2 721's since the 171 software download. I just called dish and reported this problem. I suggest anyone else who experiences this problem, take the time to call dish and report the problem. This is the only way they know it is happening. When it happens it makes a real mess out of the 721. It is triggered, I think, by hitting record then selecting options and the option record to finish. If the record lite doesn't come on, you are about to experience this bug. Which will give you the main screen black and a pic-in-pic in the right hand corner of the screen. You can't get rid of it or do anything else without a reboot, probably with the smart card.
