I want to get a 522 to operate 2 televisions. The second television is hardly ever used. Can I split the signal to my first television? (on input 2) Basically I want to watch a live show and be able to record on tv1 when tv2 is not in use. I understand that this will not work if tv2 is in use. What kind of splitter would this entail? :stickman:
Any cable splitter would do on the output. But you may need the second remote to operate input 2

The easiest thing to do is turn on record plus. Menu>Preferences>Record Plus. This will let you set the default tuner to record. All timers will default to recording on the tuner you select. Also if you press record while watching a show it will give you the option to choose which tuner it records on. Otherwise, use a splitter, or use the RCA connections from TV2 on the back to go to TV1.
I think I might have a solution that you might like. You need a multiple line receiver that has more than one video input. I bought my extra on Ebay for $62.00. I ran the coax into another room for the blue remote (UHF) and then hooked up each of the built in receivers to the inputs on the receiver. Video one is the one receiver, Video two is the second receiver, DVD is another on this one and so on. I can check to see what is on the 2nd receiver with a press of the receiver's button. Record it, ignore it, whatever. I'm just using the video cables anyway, not even affecting the coax cable run everwhere else. You can add an AB switch right there too if you want to let the people in the rest of your house have a choice as to what they want to watch especially if you have more than one TV in the rest of the house.
Hope this wasn't too off your needs... Gary
He *will* need the 2nd remote right alongside the 1st remote...
