Well for over 20 years I have received New Orleans and Baton Rouge locals through cable. Now D offers both New Orleans and Baton Rouge locals, I can only receive the New Orleans locals according to D. So now I have to keep paying cable just for local coverage. Well sorry for the rant.

Ranting is what forums are for. D* goes by the coverage area based upon zip code so that's why you'll get only one. I'm guessing you want local news, etc., from both markets so the only way to do that (to my knowledge) is through cable.

Unless SHVIRA is passed to allow significantly viewed channels.

We have the exact same problem here in New Jersey.

In Ocean County BOTH New York and Philadelphia stations are carried on cable.

Over the air Philadelphia covers the entire county, New York covers about 1/4 of the county.

Philadelphia news covers all of Ocean County, New York news covers NONE AT ALL.

Philadelphia TV weather reports include Ocean County on thier weather maps, New York does NOT.

The VAST majority of Ocean County residents watch Philadelphia TV.

Several Ocean County businesses advertise on Philadelphia TV.

DirecTV only gives Ocean County NEW YORK.

It makes no sense at all.

get DirecTV and keep "lifeline" or "broadcast" cable package. it almost never costs more than $10/m. or it matters to you that much put up an antenna for at least the analog broadcasts, and you can get the other DMA on DirecTV.
