Channel shuffling - how does receiver know it has changed?

Take the June 1 moves of a few channels from 119 to 101 as an example. Is the change of transponders, etc downlinked to all receivers via the sattelite?

Yes the receiver is constantly being reprogrammed with information. The channel numbers may stay constant but the actual transponder it is broadcast from can change during the day and it will be transparent to you.
