As expected, the Senate Judiciary Committee's mark-up of key satellite TV legislation scheduled for Thursday was postponed. All Senate activity will stop today at noon for funeral services for former President Ronald Reagan, who passed away over the weekend.

No news was available concerning a rescheduled date for the postponed hearing. Orrin Hatch, the Utah Republican and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has been working on the legislation since the start of the year, known on the Senate side as the Satellite Home Viewer Extension Act.

The move in the Senate follows the cancellation of hearings for the House Judiciary Committee this week due to the Reagan remembrances. The panel was scheduled to work on a mark-up of the Satellite Home Viewer Extension and Reauthorization Act today. It's unknown when the hearing will be rescheduled for the key satellite TV legislation.
