I am being told that software version P2.67 is now spooling for the Dish 811.

Wow that was a long download, took 20 minutes to download. I wonder what all they changed.

The real question is what will be broken while attempting to fix whatever it is Dish is trying to fix in the 811. Already read that channel recall still doesn't work if tuned to an OTA channel, so that's at least one thing that wasn't fixed.

Would appreciate you given it a spin Mike and letting us know what you found fixed or broken. ;)

I didnt find anything either....

Here's what I checked for:

No OTA Guide data
Doesn't look like the sd outputs have been changed
strech modes still dont work on SD outputs
Recall from OTA back to satellite still doesn't work
No Dish Home software
OTA Still having multipath locking problems

I do not see any changes yet, but some problems like the guide getting confused take a while to show up.

Its reported on Sat Guys that this fixes an issue with listening to Sirius all day.. so it could be a long download for little or nothing..

Talk about a tease. This update certainly is much ado about nothing. Is there even an issue with Sirius on the 811? Has anyone here ever had a problem with it?

something about if u listen to sirius for 50 hours straight the 811 would blow up

Actually, the black screen started to take on a grey tone. This was confusing some viewers as most of their 811 channels are too black.

.. this fixes an issue with listening to Sirius all day.. .
If someone is listening to Sirius all day, he'll need more than a sw download to fix his problems.

Hmmm...after the update installed, I checked my OTA digital channels and found that the signal level on my high band VHF channels had deteriorated. My local Fox and UPN (8-1 and 8-1) are now choppy, where previously I had a solid lock on them. Still unable to achieve a lock on 4-1 (local ABC digital feed), still getting the dreaded 49 on it. Another step backward?

I am told that the software does not fix anything except for a Sirius Music bug.

Your OTA tuning should not be affected at all.

Scott: I'd sure like to believe that, but all was well before 267 as far as my Fox/UPN digital was concerned, but now it's choppy, both in audio and video. No other changes have been made to my installation. Curious.

I've been out of town for 2 days and when I got in & read this post, I saw where 2.67 was now available. However, when I check my sat's system info, it's still showing software ver. 2.66. I even tried again by turning off my receiver, but still nothing happens and my system info screen still shows ver. 2.66. Any ideas as to what my be going on?

Wonder if they are spooling this out in groups? Maybe they just spooled it out to a small range of receivers first to make sure this one fix wonder did not break anything. Nothing worse than a software update that appears to fix nothing and break a number of things.

Sure - involuntary beta-testing would fit right in with E*'s customer service attitude.

My 811 locked up after the DL. I had to unplug it from the AC outlet to get it to come back on.

Version 2.67 on my 811. No changes or anomalies noticed. I'm not tuning OTA channels since I'm 60-70 miles from Jax and Sav.

This will sound a little strange, but I just downloaded the ver. 2.67 software and haven't noticed any difference in anything except for possibly one thing. Maybe it's just me and all this time I've never noticed it, but I just observed that the channel guide appears in 4:3 format. I have a 16:9 Hitachi HDTV that I usually leave in "stretch" mode, but again the guide seems to only fill a 4:3 area. Is this normal & I've just never observed this before or did 2.67 shrink the guide's viewing area?
I may be becoming paranoid, because I never know if a new software version is going to improve or degrade my 811.....

The guide and menu are in 4:3 mode. Since most HDTV's cannot change formats on an HD input signal, but can for an SD signal, you probably had it stretched when using the TV's SD input.
Unfortunately, the 811's own internal stretch modes do not work in the guide and menus.

Boy, glad I'm not going looney after all....Thanks!!
