The House Judiciary Committee didn't get to a mark-up of key satellite TV legislation Wednesday due to nearly three hours of talk concerning two other unrelated bills.
Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner said mark-up of the Satellite Home Viewer Extension and Reauthorization Act (SHVERA) will occur next week, along with other bills that didn't make it through Wednesday's hearing. Committee members debated two other pieces of legislation - including a first responders bill that needs passage this week - before they had to recess the Wednesday hearing.
Meanwhile, similar legislation being put together by the Senate Judiciary Committee could get some attention today. The committee is set to meet this morning to discuss its satellite TV bill, first introduced by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) in January.
