View Full Version : 311 vs. 301
I'm looking for a cheap receiver to use for the superstations. Dish Network only lists the 301 on its website. I see that people have the 311. What's the difference? Thanks.
The 301 has a smart card...the 311 is cardless (its built in)
Are you looking for a simple receiver just for the Supers? I might have one for ya. Its an older receiver (4000), but it would work if all you want is the Supers.

I believe the 311 has 8PSK capability as well. Correct, TonyM?

Thanks Tony. I've got an old 4000. But it takes about 5 minutes for the programming guide to populate. They may have fixed this since I last used it. It's been over a year.
I have seen 301 and 311's for sale on ebay for around 50 bucks.

Hopefully, your 4000 will accept any new updates to the software since you have had it out of the stream that long....

I have a 301. Good receiver, but the picture stutters a bit.
I think the 311 would be a much better choice. It's newer, likely better technology... it's also been out long enough for any of the early bugs to have been fixed.
I had a 301 but because of those studders aka jumping of the picture I ditched the piece of crap when I got the 6000. I still have my great 4900 for the 2nd room when I first got Dish 5 years ago. Having 2 UHF remotes is the bomb!

If you're looking for a cheap receiver, I have a 2800 that I've been looking to unload. It would be a bit better than a 4000.

I believe the 311 has more memory too.
