I've had my superdish now for over a week (my locals are on 105 so it required the superdish) and I've noticed a significant advantage the superdish has over the old dish 500. We've had some significant rain storms in the last week that would have caused me to lose the satellite signal had I been using the 500. With the superdish, I've had no problems at all watching through the storms. Sometimes bigger is better :)

Sometimes???

Yeah, sometimes it's not how big it is, but how it gets used....

It could have also be where the old Dish 500 you was using was needing aligned to get a better signal so when the SuperDish was put in they ended up getting it aligned better for a higher signal quality. I have not noticed a higher signal strength on the SuperDish compared to the Dish 500 seeing how you have to align the dish to get the 105 or 121 signal as high as possible.

I had my dish replaced on Saturday. The prior install was obviously very poorly installed. Prior to my new install, my dish went into acquisition mode frequently not only on rainy days. With the new install, It poured yesterday and my signal didn't even hesitate. My 110 and 119 signals are well over 100, but my 121 signal is only around 75-80. The installers told me if they get a signal greater than 50 they are supposed to leave it as this is a difficult signal to grab.

What I want to know is why are they still using 121 when the new sat goes into orbit scheduled like tomorrow and 105 will become more beneficial.

What new 105 satellite going into orbit tomorrow? The only one I am aware of is not scheduled to launch before the end of Augest.

121 is a new satellite I don't think it is a year old yet, 105 is the old satellite that will be replaced this fall.

I am being told the 105 sat will be replaced. In another thread in DBStalk they stated it goes up tomorrow.

The signal from the new 105 satellite should rise sharply once it is launched. This will help with rainfade issues on 105. The 105 signal may actually be the last one to go out when the it rains once the new satellite is launched since FSS is less susceptible to rain fade.
