View Full Version : BUG REPORT: 921 display after reboot bug and a question
First off, thanks for the great threads guys, it's helped me a lot.
Anyway, whenever I do a hard reboot (pull plug or pull card), when the sat finally comes up the image looks like it's interlaced improperly (like half the image is shifted horizontally over itself). You can kinda see what's going on, but it's definitely not right. The fix is to switch to SD mode, then switch right back to HD mode, and it clears itself up. My 921 is connected to my Samsung DLP set via DVi if it matters. Anyone else experience this? I can easly reprouce this over and over.
My question has to do with timer based recording of OTA channels. HOW is it possible? Since there is no guide, I can't use that to schedule something. When I try to do a manual timer, I only get channes 100 and up as available options. So how can I set a manual timer for OTA channels?
Oh, and one last thing... WHY can't they get a guide for the OTA tuner? Why????
Thanks!
Type in channel 9999 and you will see the OTA channels listed. John

You can create a manual timer from the timers menu or you can create a timer from the satellite and then edit it to have the correct ota channel and time. I have done both and it works.

Check your display properties after the 921 comes back up and make sure that the resolution still set is what you expect it to be. It may be set to 480p, rather than what you want it to be set at.

Set a manual timer, and as has been said, you can jump directly to the channel you want in the list. Scoll over to the list so that a channel is highlighted, and then enter the OTA channel you want to set the timer for - ie for channel 7.1, enter 00701 on the remote and you will jump to that channel (which is at the bottom of the list).

To create a manual OTA timer do the following. 1-Select menu, 2-Select# 7 for timers, 3-Select create, At this point a manual timer screen will appear with the channels starting at 101. For some reason scrolling up or down will not get you to the OTA listings. Using your remote control keypad, type in the OTA channel you wish to record as remapped by the 921 during the channel scan. For me, as an example CBS out of DC is digital channel# 39 but is remapped as 009-01. Once I get to the "CREATE TIMER" screen and type in 00901 (no dash necessary) that OTA channel will appear in the scroll down list along with my other OTA channels the I just select the OTA channel I want and set the date and time.
As far as the OTA guide, it's there but no info available yet. This feature is supposed to be coming soon via future upgrade. To get to the blank OTA guide screen, press guide and then punch in 101. At that point you should be able to scroll down into the OTA channels your 921 has scanned.

I have a smilar problem on the SD side with my Philips 60" HD RPTV. Sometimes I get two FULL side-by-side pictures when switching to SD mode. I clear it by cycling TV power via the remote. I think the 921 is confusing the TV somehow - or it's just a glitch in the TV. Note - no DVI here, HD is component, SD is composite.
