I am about to redesign and rerun cables for my DSS setup. I currently have two dishes and wish to set them in order to become "HDTV" ready for when my home theater is finished.

I need to order a multiswitch and was looking into getting a 22khz multiswitch. But when I read the specs and info, I got confused. It mentions a 22khz quasi-square wave and says "This switch only works with receivers that supply the 22khz quasi square wave"

Well, what the heck is that? And how do I find out if my current receivers work with this multi-switch? Although I wish to move to HDTV, I cannot afford to obsolete my current DISH/DTV STBs

Any help is greatly appreciated...!!

Hi Dave,

Would need a little more info to provide a complete solution - but you will need to pruchase Echo's Model 6000 receiver if you wish to receive HD content. If you wish to receive off-air HD, you will need the 8VSB cartrige for the 6000 as well.

Echo's legacy switchbox uses a 13/18 VDC pulse with a latent 13/18 level and is not compatible with the 22KHz switch used by DTV.
