I had a question about significantly viewed channels that I have not been able to find on this forum. If it has been answered already and I just missed it I apologize. Let's say I receive the Chicago locals package. If they allow significantly viewed channels to be received in my area that would mean I could also get some of the Peoria locals. The Peoria locals are I believe on 105 while the Chicago locals are on the main satellites. My question is, If I wanted to receive the significantly viewed channels out of Peoria would I need to get a superdish or would these channels be up linked to the main satellites? and would the dish be provided free or would I have to pay for it?

The law does not currently allow for significantly viewed locals. You might want to look a tthe forum devoted to SHVIRA. That si legislation that might change this.

If the new SHVIRA gets passed mandating (a) all locals on one dish, and (b) allow sales of significantly viewed channels, then you'll see Dish shuffle channels around quite a bit. Exactly how it will shake out market-by-market would require quite a bit of informed speculation, and I'd rather save time by just waiting to find out.

This is just pure speculation on my part. I suspect that after all of the shuffling that is going to have to happen if the situation is still the same and your Chicago locals are still on a Dish500 and your significantly viewed Peoria locals are is still on the SuperDish, it is likely they will be available to you but you will probably have to upgrade to a SuperDish at your own expense to take advantage of them, but I could be wrong.
