I recently installed a Zinwell 4x8 multiswitch on a phase III dish, with 5 ports currently in use. While it works great, it is so hot I can't keep my hand on it for more than a few seconds.

Do these things normally run this hot?

My Eagle Aspen powered 4x8 is warm to the touch, but not hot to the touch. There's something wrong with it. Where is it mounted? Get it away from any combustible material. I suspect that there is an internal short circuit.

Is the power supply for it the correct one?

I just double-checked, and it is the proper power supply. I have it mounted on a plywood wall in my wiring area (walk-in attic). I've spaced it away from the plywood a 1/2" or so to try and provide more cooling circulation.

Thanks for the feedback on what's normal. I think I'll track down a replacement.
