View Full Version : Question about selling a Dish receiver...

This past weekend, I just went to cable (long story, but bottom line was, there was no unhappiness with Dish itself--I was a customer for over 7 years--but I lost networks recently and did not get the waivers). As a result, I have a Dish PVR 508 and remote at home in great condition (never had a single problem) that I'm looking to sell.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about how the smart cards tie into the unit and the account. I have closed my account with Dish (actually getting a $7 check in the mail--woo hoo) but the card is, of course, still with the unit.

If I sell the 508, is there any danger in sending the card with it? Is it okay if I sell the unit with the card in it now that I've already closed my account with Dish?

Thanks guys!

As long as you have let Dish know that the reciever is no longer on your account it is fine to sell.
