I know that just prior to AT150 (now AT180) launch, Dish had Ovation in the EPG (not visible to subscribers) on channel 127. After that time, Ovation was reported uplinked several times on the same channel number, but it never made the line-up.

Ha Ha... I read the title and thought of an entire channel of people clapping. You know sometimes standing up, sometimes sitting down. Specials like "The Top 10 Loudest Ovations", a documentry on seat fillers.

I've been calling and e-mailing for 2 years on Ovation, GoodLife, & Trio.

For some reason Charlie hasn't listened to me?

The ovation site says that they're still in negotiations with Dish. How long do negotiations last? :)

What's the difference between Ovation and Classic Arts Showcase?

Classiic Arts Showcase is like an MTV of symphonies, Operas and other performing arts. Each Music video lasts abaout 3-7 minutes preceded and proceded by the performance info (Composer, performer and some little history) listed on a still frame and graphics. No commercials nor "promo" interruptions except for a "Classic Arts Showcase" slate and contact info every now and again.

http://www.classicartsshowcase.org/

Ovation TV has documentaries, complete symphonies, operas and other performing arts. They have interview shows and profiles. It is a much more rounded channel.
www.ovationtv.com

Essentially the purpose of CAS is to get more people interested in the arts by showing snippets and a cross section of what is out there. Ovation TV is for people who are already interested in the arts and want to see an entire performance and so on.

Two or three years ago I subscribed to TV Plus (now OnSat) magazine and they had several channels listed in the program listings that Dish hadn't even added yet. They had GAC, Goodlife TV, Ovation, and VH1 Classic, maybe more. I also think they had ActionMax and ThrillerMax which weren't the ones added to Cinemax after all. GAC and VH1 Classic were later added but Ovation and VH1 Classic never were. I don't know why TV Plus was even listing these channels in their magazine when they were not available to Dish Subcribers.
