View Full Version : Which receiver would you rather have
Given the choice, which receiver would you rather have? (not which service, just which receiver would you prefer to have to use). I'm just curious which company's basic receiver you think is best (though actually cable generally gives you a Moto DCT2000, you can get a DCT2500 no cost from my cable company - it's a lot faster, and adds S-Video and digital audio for DD5.1)

Whats this, the bottom of the barrel poll? The 311 is the 2nd cheapest E* receiver out there.
Not quite, it's the basic receiver poll. You wouldn't get a 111 for a main account. And with cable they'd normally give you a DCT2000, but you can and should complain about it and my cable company gives you the 2500 which is a LOT better :)
PS, personally I'd go with the D10. I'd vote the Moto if it wasn't for the terrible software that fills 40% of the screen with ads.
I voted for D* because the Moto box has that horrible TV guide EPG. I remember the first time I say it, they were advertising RCA cable modems for high speed internet, problem was Comcast hadn't updated our system for broadband internet, talk about rubbing your face in it.

The D10, provided I was almost broke and couldn't affor the extra for a DTiVo. The 311 wouldn't be an option because it's an Echostar product, and I never cared for the 301. I've never used the Motorola receiver, but I wouldn't be too keen about the ads.
Yeah, the Moto's really technically the best but the software most cable companies run on it is practically unbearable!
