View Full Version : 721 time zone off?
I have my 721 set to come on Friday nights at 9pm thru to 11pm to record the Stargate shows.
I get home at 11pm to find it still recording all the way up to midnight.
Its like its recording 2 hours behind.
My guide shows the right time, but can it be on central time instead of eastern time?
Im in NC btw.

Have you looked at the end late part? Sometimes this gets added to accidently. She did that a couple of time thinking it was how long it needed to run.... :)

Did you put your zip code in correctly ?
Did you put your zip code in correctly ?
The zip code that you put in has NOTHING to do with the time zone that the receiver uses to show the EPG and record programs. The zip code is only used to display the correct azimuth, elevation and skew for aiming the dish from THAT zip code.
The time zone on the receiver is set up from the information that the CSR enters when they set up the account. If THAT zip code (the SERVICE address zip code) is not correct the receiver will "think" that it is in a different area and use that time zone.
Also, for those of you buying new receivers - you should know that new receivers could takes some amount of time (usually a couple of hours) for the time zone to be set correctly. I noticed that on my 721 when it was first activated.

Lets see. It was d/ling the new wares when I called to activate it.
It finally finished and rebooted itself.
I didn't have my channels.
I called them, and then they came on while on the phone with csr.
Then I noticed the time was wrong, the wife called them and it was corrected.
I haven't rebooted since it did after the download.
Would you do it just to see if it works? Cant hurt right?
"End late" part? Hummm......not sure what you mean.

When setting up a recording on the right side on the bottom, you have the option to start it early or end it late. The default is 1 minute early and 3 late. SOme channels don't change over at the same time, and MTV2 uis really late on Friday nights when I recoed Spiderman. I have to set it to 5 mins late or I miss the ending(good thing they are doing a lot of repeats right now. :) ). She added 60 minutes once and it recorded way past.
I have also noticed that the 721 seems to be more stable on a legacy switch than DP Quad. Of course, this may be rare, but Bob remarked about the same thing.
