View Full Version : Cbs East Ch 80 Blackout
I subscribe to the NY/LA distant nets. Last night (Tuesday Aug 3) I noticed that the Yankee game was blacked out on Ch 80 (HI DEF), but was in the clear on 380 (Std Def). Anybody else notice this? I any trying to figure out if the adding of philly locals by DirecTV recently has affected this. Maby their computer thinks that I get Ch 80 as a result of the recent O & O deal, and is blacking out the Hi Def because of some Philly DMA conflict. Any ideas? Thanks.
Not sure of your exact situation, but channel 380 is the distant CBS (which happens to be New York) and is not subject to blackouts as the local New York CBS would. Channel 80 is treated like the local New York CBS and is subject to blackouts.
OK, so that fact that I have waivers on file for all four nets makes no difference, Ch 80 is a local CBS service. Before Direct added the Philly locals, I never saw this happen. I think I get it, thanks.
On E*, when WCBS-TV has a Yankees game, CBSHD East is normally showing regular network content. I did not check last night as that has always been the case previously.
When NFL coverage starts there may be additional blackouts.
