Today when my 522 did its daily disk maintenance, after it finished low and behold I had no more of my saved recordings not even the ones marked protect.
There was only about 4 hours of recordings on the unit.
Also all my history was gone . I had nothing important saved so no big deal, but will make sure if I do to move it to a tape or DVD.
I hope this daily disk maintenance issue is worked out real soon. I really do not see the need for it.

Did you call E* about this - what was their response?

No I never called E*, on another board I read other post with the same complaint. Just figured its a bug and will have to deal with it or wait for another update.

I know it feels like a waste of time, but calling E* and pushing until they crate a bug report (uncommon trend) report might help the management idiots move it up the priority lit.

Thank you Simon. I been trying to tell people that for a long time.

Folks, you won't get your problems fixed unless you report them and asking the tech to submit an "uncommon trend" report is the way to do that. Not only does that report go to engineering to research the problem, MANAGEMENT also gets the information.

Who do I call, SBC or Dish? I get my service through SBC, but will calling them be a waist of time? SBC told me to contact them with any issues. Do they let Dish know?
Sorry for sounding dumb.

Dish - if this was a billing issue, I'd say SBC, but Technical - call Dish directly...

Lenny,

Call DISH Network at (800) 333-3474 and choose the technical support option.

Actually calling dish will do you no good. If you got your dish though SBC and have a 8257 number normal dish CSR's will not be able to handle your issue, they won't even be able to bring up your acct. Call SBC and they will get the message to DISH

BTW, If you read the message that came up I believe it tells you there is something wrong with your hard drive and you have to reformat it or something like that. It tells you, that in 7 days it will erase drive or you can erase it now if you don't mind loosing everything.

Hope this helps

You know now that you mention it, It might have had a different mesage than the disk maintenance mesage I get every night. I really didn't read it I just assumed it was the same and clicked OK.
Thanks I will pay more attention to the messages in the future.
I still see no need for the other daily disk maintenance, once a week should be fine.
