View Full Version : 811 and 510 in same room -- controller conflict
I've been really happy with my 510 recorder and have just purchased an 811 HD receiver. Now that I have them both installed and running, I'm having issues because the remote controls operate BOTH devices.
I'd like to have one controller to operate both devices, but not at the same time :)
At the least, does anyone have any idea how to get the receivers to only work with their respective controllers?
Many Thanks!

Yes - you need to change one of their remotes to another address (1-15 are available).
Prior to starting - take the receiver you want to keep on its current channel unplugged.
Look on page 26 of your DISHPVR Satellite System User's Guide.
If for some reason you don't have the manual, comeback and tell us.

It is hard to spot how to do it in the manual since it is not very clearly written. Essentially pressing the record button when the receiver is on the sysinfo screen will change the receiver's address to whatever the remote happens to be programmed to be. So, you press the sysinfo button on the receiver, hold the sat button on the remote until the lights flash, put in a new code 1-15, then press # then the record button.

That's what happens when you have 2 UHF remotes and 2 UHF receivers in 1 spot. Darn remote addresses...
