Hello..
I recently got a Hughes DVR 120 in April. It died recently. Directv sent me a new Samsung SIR S4120R. I am now having a problem with my IR emitter (to use in other rooms) working on this receiver. The IR window is a little smaller and angled slightly compared to the Hughes but I can't imagine this should matter. I have tried new emitters and even have had the same emitter work a Hughes DVR 40 fine.

Was wondering if anyone has this receiver and has an IR system could they do a test to see if it works. I contacted directv about getting me another DVR 120. Someone is supposed to get back to me..

The remote works fine if I use the remote as normal IR.
thanks for any help
Bill

You might want to try a stick on IR emitter. This can stick directly over the IR sensor on the Samsung. The problem here is that this may block enough of the sensor to prevent use of the remote in the same room. The Samsung my also be a little more sensitive to outside IR interference. Try blocking the IR sensor to block outside light.

I actually am using a stick on emitter. Xantech I believe. Interesting enough these usually allow regular IR to pass through as well. Which it isn't. I will try covering the front of the receiver, although it is in a cabinet and mostly blocked by the door, but there is some glass. Definitly worth a shot
thanks
