After the 269 update to my 811, I'm getting a lot more breakups on HBO HD and SHO HD, like once every minute.

I have 2 sets of HBO and SHO HD b/c I have 2 dishes on roof. Before 269, only one set (one dish) had breakups. Now both sets are having breakups.

I believe this is b/c the 269 update somehow worsened the signal strength, b/c I know for a fact that my HBO/SHO HD was operating just above the breakup cutoff before 269.

How do I know this? The boneheads at DISH came out and took away my DishPro swithcer and gave me the older Legacy switcher, which has a weaker signal strength. Why would they do that?

Remember when CBS HD went out on 811? Before DISH figured out it was 811 software problem, they claimed it was my DishPro gear not getting along with 811 (when there are 3 or more receivers in the house). So they came and gave me the crap Legacy gear.

This is when one set of HBO/Sho HD started getting breakups. When I called them, they refused to come out and give me back my DishPro gear even though they F&**k'd up, saying "at least one set" works.

Now with the 269 "upgrade" my 811 is breaking up on both sets of HBO/SHO HD. Oh, yes, I will call them again, but I know they will not give me my DishPro back free. Can't wait 'til my contract runs out with DISH(heads).

The breakup is NOT being caused by 269. Dish has gone to 3 HD channels per transponder with 8PSK modulation. The error correction is not set high enough and what you see is resulting drop outs.

I hope they get this fixed soon or go back to 2 channels per transponder.

I dislike always being the 'Pollyanna' around here, but I've seen no degradation of PQ from my 811 since 269. Sorry you're having probs.

I do have other (serious) problems with my reception from 61.5 and 119, but that's for another thread.

Looking for my Karma... :scratchin

Man, that is bad news. It's time to call DISH in droves to demand they go back to 2 channels per transponder. Today, I'm noticing that my HDTNT, HD Discovery are breaking up more, too. Also, I think the PQ (when not breaking up) looks more grainy and washed out compared to before. Drat

I agree with you.. I have had no problems with PQ since 269; as a matter of fact, mine is even better than before.

My 811 is working fine in all areas. I don't use OTA so I can't comment on that problem.

My 811 has always had a problem when left on the same HD channel for a long time (more than 12 hours). The picture stops being smooth motion and becomes jerky like a sequence of 1 second stills. It is easily cured by changing channels or going to the guide for a moment.

Post 269 (and also post 3 HD channels per transponder). I have noticed this behavior starting when watching the same channel for 1 - 2 hours. Also now this symptom can occur with "blockiness".

So, if you are seeing degraded picture, check that it is not cured by momentarily switching to the guide.

Seems like 269 or 3HD/TP may be agravating a memory leak.

I get the jerked up picture as well. But it's not the receiver or software I beleive cause this was happening before 269 and with the 3 TPs, Those channels should move back when theh olympics are over, because it doesnt look like Dish has any plans to be adding anything else anytime soon

The boneheads at DISH came out and took away my DishPro swithcer and gave me the older Legacy switcher, which has a weaker signal strength. Why would they do that?Legasy equipment does not have "weaker signal strength."

They did it because early on the 811s' software was intermittent with the DishPro QUAD. Whether you have a DishPro or legacy QUAD (or DP-34 vs. SW-64 switch), it is unrelated to your HBO/SHo HD problems and not a matter of signal strength.

Well, now I know it's the 3 channels/transponder issue, which is still DISH's fault.

And the satelite signal strength IS lower with my current Legacy setup compared to Dishpro. The satelite strength went down anywhere from 10-15% per satelite when checked via 811's "System check" function. Not to mention that Legacy switch needs to be plugged in to wall outlet, taking up precious outlet space. And it was DISH who told me Legacy system has "weaker" signal than DishPro, when I called to complain about more frequent break-ups on HBO HD/SHO HD.

All this, of course, doesn't excuse DISH for coming out and taking away my brand new DishPro system when it was their stupid software problem with 811 that needed to be fixed.

Oh, yeah. Now with the 269 update, my 811 became much MORE unreliable. Almost every day my 811 requires plug/unplug routine b/c it freezes up. And it is now losing OTA digital channel mapping every frigging day, requiring me to push "Search Local Digital channel" every damned day to re-map the local channels.

That is why they are still Boneheads
