Does the 510 have a fan?

I think I'm ready for a new 510 and just wondered how quiet it is compared to my 7200 dp? Thanks

Yes, the 510 has a fan, but it only kicks on when it gets to a certain temp. Like most new cars. I have a 501 and a 721 right above me, and I can't hear them at all compared to my computer. If yours isn't kicking on, it's probably in a good, well ventilated area. Is the top warm to the touch? If only slightly warm, it's fine.

I had a 501 and then it was replaced with a 508 then I added another 508 six months later. On all three units, the fan noise was consistent, hardly noticeable. When the fan kicked on, it was very quiet.

It has a lot of fans. However, I think most people prefer the 501, 508, and 721 because there's no DVR fees.

Thanks guys, if the 79.00 promotion for the 510 is still on, I guess I'll get one to replace either my 7200 or the model 1000, both have been buggy lately.

I beleive that one is over, because they are only doing the lease program for new addons through dish. I wouldn't swap out something I own for a lease box, but you could always add it, and then drop the othe box a month later and at least get a switch if you need it.
