Hi!

A Dish Authorized subcontractor came out to my house to fix a problem with my misaligned SuperDish. He got the Superdish realigned fine, but had trouble restarting my nearly new 721. Since he admittedly didn't know much about the 721 and said that he simply "did not like them," he decided to RMA my 721. I got home from work that evening and simply pulled the plug on the unit and removed the Smartcard and let it sit a few minutes..put it all back together and it worked fine. I called Dish to cancel the RMA but the guy told me that it was "too late, already in the channel.." OK, so the new 721 arrives, and I swap them out, activate the new unit and stick the pre-paid UPS sticker on the box and send the old one back.. now, a few days later, I get my Dish bill and there is a $14.95 "shipping fee," is this a usual practice? Should I call to dispute this charge?http://www.dbstalk.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=48#

This is normal, unless you have the $5.99/mo insurance plan. I'd call them back though and explain the situation to try and get the charge waived. There was nothing wrong with the receiver you sent back - the tech that E* sent blew it and you shouldn't have to pay.

I believe that if it dies in the first 90 days, they are supposed to waive the shipping charge. At least that's what a CSR told me, but you know how that goes.........

I was charged and my 508 died within 60 days - bought January 2004.

If you go with credit-card autopay they will waive shipping. Weird reason, but true.
