View Full Version : Dish installer misinformed me. I need a switch that will accommodate 4 sats.

I recently switched to a Dish Network SuperDish. I also have SkyAngel. The SuperDish came with a 34 switch. This switch will only accommodate three lines in. The installer suggested that I drop the 110 sat and tie the 61.5 SkyAngel dish into where the 110 would go. Everything works great but not having the 110 sat has cost me quite a few channels - more than the installer said. He tells me that in order to tie in the 61.5 (SkyAngel), 105 (local channels), 110, and 119, I have to purchase a DP 44 switch. Oh, by the way the cost is $119.00. I cannot afford to pay this. I would not have switched to the SuperDish if I had known that this would have happened. When he installed the SuperDish, he carried with him the other switches I had. Now I am highly frustrated. Any suggestions.

Welcome to DBSTalk, tuck2694. :hi:
Send an email detailing your situation to ceo@dishnetwork.com. I know of several people in similar situations that have gotton the DPP44 switch at little to no cost directly from Dish.
DPP44 switch will solve your problem
I believe soon you'll be able to cascade a DP21 and DP34 switch. Don't know which receivers or when, though.

:)
I contacted Dish Network and they are going to supply to me a DPP 44 switch and have an installer come out and hook it up.

Shub: Just FYI, you can cascade the DP21 & DP34 now. Put the DP34 on Port #1.

Guess my memory's not the greatest. :P
Too bad the installer didn't know about this and took the DP21s. (Sounds like he did. Tuck says the installer took some switches and added a DP34. I'm not aware of anything besides 21s he'd take.) Could've saved a lot of hassle to just put those 21s on there and get everything going again.

ONLY if the DP34 is daisy chained to a DP+44 since it has a power inserter. The DP boxes don't have enough juice to run 4 sats without insertion..... :(

Unh. Daisy chain not needed. SatelliteGuys resident Mad Scientist has already done it.

That's what the posts says that your link sends to. I am also a member of satguys, but I prefer this site....actually, I forgot that I had registered over there and now I just always go here first.....
I may be in the same boat, I have a Dish 500 (110/119) and a Dish 300 (61.5) and I have been waiting for the DP44+ to come out so I can upgrade to a SuperDish and keep the wing position. I hope I get a good CSR when I call Dish so they'll pass that information on the the installer!

Whet type of setup do you have. There are pleny of ways to do 4 sats on a legacy system.
