what do you pros recomend for a good signal meter/finder and a good line of sight meter. im going to be doing mostly directv installs i believe but there could be some voom and dish as well from time to time. any ideas on any other good tools i should use

Dang - there's a LONG thread somewhere on this very subject - it might be over at satelliteguys.us, bu many tools and related topics were discussed in it.

As a lot of work went into that thread, you might want to search for it - like I say, we posted a LOT of top-notch info in that thread. If you find it, maybe post a link back to here.

I use a Suunto for elevation and Azimuth.
For signal meter Digisat III for under $300.00 your are in good shape.
If you ever find the link SimpleSimon talks about please post it here it is always interesting to read.

I thought the same thing when I saw this... I just did a search - virtually the same topic name posted by the same guy (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=29300&highlight=tools+installers)! I guess it was too much trouble to take notes the first time around?
