Hey Yall,

I just ran up on this place today. I have a quick question for yall. I read a couple pages and didnt find my answer, so I do apologize if it has already been answered.

Is there a way to get a Dish Netork HD receiver and have some decive like Tivo (or any other DVR) that will work together without paying $1000 for the 921?

Im addicted to my Tivo DVR but would like to upgrade to HD (since I just bought a HDTV).

I just cancelled my cable service and Im just about to sign up with Dish Network. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Andy

Yes there is a way, but you won't get HD. If you want HD DVR capability, then you have two options that I am aware of. The 921 from Dish and the HDTivo from Direct. If Tivo is one of your main requirements, you are better off going with Direct.

I am a E* Sub.

You can always connect a standalone Tivo to a Dish or DirecTV HD receiver to record the SD programming and downconverted HD programming. Or, you can use a combo of DircTivo and DirecTV HD receiver or Dish DVR and 811. But, you can only watch true HD live, not recorded.

I have an 811 and 721DVR hooked up that way.
