View Full Version : problem with 501 olympic showcase

Hello all!
I am having a problem getting one of my 501 receivers to open this app. One receiver will give me an error message e327 or e326 saying that this channel
is not available. I have tried the usual front panel and pull the card resets
without success. Any help would be appreciated.

Just got off the phone with Dish tech. What a frustrating experience. First tech rep didn't have a clue. Did standard reset things but had no information on what the errors were or what to do about them. Nothing on their standard help sheet. Then asked for a supervisor. She said they were having problems and that no 508s were working. Told her that I was online with others that had one machine working and one not working. She told me that she was a technical person and that 501 was a different machine from 508 (not just hard drive size, 508 could do things that 501 can't do). At that point I gave up. Quote their engineers are working around the clock on the problem.

Hmmmm, and did she say what was different between them? Most reports say that they are basically the same receiver, so I find that hard to believe since they also use the same software..............

The sad part was that this was a supervisor in the tech department that had no clue. She tried to tell me that the 508 and 501 used different software. I pointed out that they both used 2.22 and it went downhill from there. I will probably try calling again later. Does anyone have the Olympic Showcase running properly on a 508?

Just got off the phone with Advanced Tech. Very helpful, but couldn't fix the problem. They have had a number of reports of this problem but don't have a fix yet. The issue is to engineering and they are trying to figure out what is going on. For the moment the suggestion is to keep trying to see if it starts working and also check with Dish Tech support to find out if they have a fix yet and if there is something (resets etc) that you have to do at home.

just got off the phone with 2 reps...neither one has heard about this glitch...end result is that i still can't watch it on my 510

It's not worth waiting on the phone for, since:

- it doesn't include the regular NBC channels, which have the most coverage
- if you select a channel in the Showcase, the DVR features don't work :(

I have a 510 and the audio never changes when I move the cursor from channel to channel.

I have a 510 also that has the Showcase working. I wonder if the sound is suppose to change as you scroll through the six choices? I didn't really notice that until you mentioned it. All I was doing was watching what was on the various stations, (Not a lot of Olympic Coverage as I could see), and choose which one looked like something I wanted to see, (which wasn't a lot ). After choosing, the station comes up ok on the screen and the sound is there.

thank you for the replys. This looks like something I will have to wait for dish to
troubleshoot. Since one of my 501's is working properly I was afraid I had a
unit going bad.

Showcase is fine on my 508 with audio changing when the yellow is moved.

I have a 721 and it worked fine for the 2 days PRECEEDING the Olympics, then took a dump as the games started. Mine would sometimes load the app (and sometimes not) and then when I would choose one of the six screens, it would show the picture and have no audio. It turned out to be that the software download had somehow changed my alternate language setting to Italian! Changing it back to English fixed the audio woes.

I then had a similar problem as you. My USA network inside the Showcase would tell me that this was a subscription channel and popped up the 800 number to call! LOL, what a joke. At that point USA disappeared from ALL guides (including the All Channel guide)! A reboot did fix this for me, though.

My 501 picks up the app fine. I just don't have sound, when I scroll, on any channel except the highlight channel.

Check your alternamte audio settings in the menu, assuming you have those settings on a 501.

You can see the showcase on 5xx receivers but not take advantage of all the benefits...like one can on 301. Just wrote this on another thread:

When u switch b/t channels in the showcase, the audio will NOT change. This is a known issue with 510 and was acknowledged by advanced tech support when I called them yesterday. Works perfectly with 301 receiver of mine. They said they wont even fix it since its not worth it as NBC showcase is not a long term thing...
Also, the channel 100 interactive Tv plays songs/music in the background for 301 and no such thing for 510...told them THAT is permanent and should be fixed..they told me that they are expecting a software fix end of this month which might fix that issue....

i have been told that there should be a fix coming out tomorrow to fix the E327/E326 errors on the 510 unit...i will post tomorrow wether my 510 finally works or not :)

FYI I have been upgraded from version A105 toversion A110 of the open TV
app. It now works fine on both of my 501's.

Started working yesterday. I have a bit more confidence that Dish really does care about us.
