View Full Version : Wierd "update" to HDVR2 during viewing

I've never seen this before: was watching live TV using the HDVR2 (Hughes), suddenly the screen went to the "blue maintenance" pattern with a message that it was updating service data. There was a progress bar showing the percentage of the "download". No matter what I did, it would not leave that screen, I couldn't go back to viewing live TV nor could I go to watch pre-recorded stuff. It took nearly 10 minutes for it to finish "downloading" whatever it was, then it automatically returned to live TV. The buffer was reset so I couldn't rewind back to where it had left me.
Anyone have a clue what was going on? This was about 8:15pm on Saturday night, not a normal "maintenance" time for the unit.

This is the first I've heard of it.

6:30pm Friday night both my TIVO units suddenly and simultaneoulsy went "off line" with a message to the effect "sorry, the receiver must re-acquire information from the sattelite". I figured it was a channel re-scramble or something. Not sure. But later the same night I noticed I was getting showtime channels. The next day I get a card from DTV saying I have it for three months free. Maybe that was it?

I already subscribe to Showtime, though. It is certainly an oddity.

One change that I noticed is that there is now an "Olympics" selection when selecting stuff to record.
Unfortunately, I haven't been home much in the past few days.
I saw the Olympics category (Which Is nice) on my D* Tivo. On Friday pm I was going through showcases, and the Cheverolet ad showcase had some Chevy adds for different cars (said the corvette was next to download) and had a category for check here to see the Olympic medal count (Which I thought was a kinda cool feature). On Sat, that showcase was gone ??? Oh well, I guess I can lookup the medal count somewhere else.
Well, Last night, the Chevy/Olympics showcase appeared again, and I got to see a medal count :)
