I'm new to Dish - I've ordered the 522 via DHA and they should be there to install on the 24th. I only need the sat on two TVs so the 522 seems like the answer for me. I've already run RCAs inwall upstairs from the main room where the 522 will sit for the TV2 connection, each end terminating in a wall plate. I've also had to run a new phone line into the room where the 522 will be, and the easiest way to do that was around the outside of the house.

My question is this - I'm under the impression that the installer will only have to run two RG6 cables from the dish to the 522 in the case of my particular install (one for each tuner, only two TVs). I know I'll never need more than two TVs because the house isn't that huge and the second outpt can always be run through a home distribution network if needed. That being said, the exterior of my home is brick and I'd rather do the drilling since I had to bring the phone line in anyways. My aim is to use a weatherproof outdoor outlet box with a modular wallplate inside. There'll two F connectors for the installer to run his RG6 to, and the phone line will go inside. In the house, there'll be another modular wallplate with the phone line terminating in a voice grade jack, and the inside RG6 going directly from the back of the F connectors to the 522.

Before I take the time to do this, though, I need to make sure only two lines are needed from the dish. In my market only the local spanish stations are on 61.5, so I'm declining the second dish. I'm also assuming they'll install a Dish 500, not a SuperDish. Is my plan feasible?

Your plan is a good one - and you do NOT have to decline the second dish. No matter how many birds you're getting, it's still ONE cable per tuner. Everything else is done closer to the dishes. :)

I for one LOVE IT when the homeowner wants to do the hard work. :D

Yeah, I figure the installer will love me, and therefore take his time setting up the dish right. (He's only going to have get up on top of a gently-sloped ten-foot-tall garage roof to mount the dish).

My other reasoning is that the run will be completely mine, and untouched by cable company scuzziness. It'll bypass their box completely. Therefore, if some numbskull slices my wires, I'll own his job. (The wire slicing has happened repeatedly in my area - yet Comcast just within the last month added 'digital' service and cable modem.)
