Just what content does NFL Network have that local affiliates, ESPN etc not have?
What makes it special to football fans?

I'm pointing out (in hopes that some of you write E*) that once again we are getting the shaft when it comes to NFL programming. It's bad enough that direct has an exclusive with the NFL, but the NFL NETWORK is fair game...it can be carried BY ANYONE!! Why can't we have it.....MONEY is the only reason

The NFL Network carries over 50 preseason games, replays of previous seasons games, in-depth news and interviews and they have purchased the rights to the entire NFL Films library from ESPN. I’m don’t consider myself a hardcore NFL fan, but I love football and I watch it intensely and the NFL Network is a great channel. Just one of the many bonuses I have gained after switching over. Thank your DirecTV for being one of the first to carry this channel!
I too am a huge NFL fan and would pay E* extra for the channel.

Evidently no one at Dish is a sports nut nor are aware of how popular the NFL is. I am sure the programing guy was asked on the last Charlie Chat and was dismissive. In meetings, I bet they think it is just another ESPN type channel.. Well it's not. Dish can add the bingo, horse racing, NBA, golf, racing, hunting channels along with a ton of foreign channels, but no NFL. This is insane as the Fox Sports package is already there and it could be added to that if they want us to pay extra for it.
NFL Network's programming lineup includes: 54 preseason games in 2004, 22 NFL Europe League games, NFL Total Access, the football show of record, Emmy-award winning NFL Films Presents, Playbook, the definitive Xs & Os show using team-supplied footage, In Their Own Words, the telling of a story without the use of a host or narration, Game of the Week, a one-hour condensed version of Sunday's most compelling contest, Point After, capturing all the postgame sound following the games, No Huddle, a live whip-around show featuring multiple preseason games airing concurrently, Coach Speak, a Monday afternoon show during the season featuring coaches press conferences, NFL Replay, a two-hour re-air of original broadcast games, Inside Training Camp: Jaguars Summer, a reality series following the 2004 Jacksonville Jaguars training camp, plus access to the historic NFL Films library.

If football is THAT important to you - switch providers.
It's only a game...

No it's not just a game, for some it's a reason for living :) I don't consider myself a hardcore fan since I'm not involved in Fantasy leagues or Madden tournaments, but on Sundays from noon to 11PM, there is only one thing on my TV.

Sounds like you need a DVR. I can watch a game in a little over an hour. Funny - from "downed" to "break" just happens to be 30 seconds (Skip Fwd) most of the time. :)

Of coarse I have a DVR, I'm one of the biggest TiVovangelists on this site :) I've been using DVRs for over two years now, a 508 for 18 months, and now a DirecTiVo. I can't watch intentionally delayed sports. If I get interrupted that's one thing, if the games on live, I'll watch it live.

I've noticed that people who belittle fans of sports tend to either be overweight nerds or virgin mama's boys.

I've noticed that self righteous pompous a******s come in ALL varieties...
BTW - I'm not anti-sports - I catch every Nextel Cup NASCAR race I can - but I don't fret about missing one - just catch the results later if I have to. It's NOT the end of the world if that happens.

Heck - I don't much care about the results even (except for Broncos :D). I just like to watch the game or race - on my OWN terms. :)
