View Full Version : ASK DBSTALK: Recording Problem
I told the 921 to record an upcoming 4 hour sequence of the Opening Ceremonies on 9425. I had plenty of available disk space, but the box only recorded the first 140 minutes. Is there something that I could have done wrong here? I've seen a couple of reports of timing errors in skip forward/back. Could that be in play here? I know there was no loss in power during the time period. Could this be a bug?

I don't know. I haven't set anything to record from 9425, but it certainly could be a bug, a guide error, or something else. Someone may have pressed STOP on the remote - a family member or a pet maybe?

You could have something with the pet thing. I have lost two remote controls to my dog Ginger. One she chewed up as a puppy. The other one she knocked off a glass of tea over onto my remote control on the coffee table with her tail. She is about 85 lb golden labador retreiver and a whole lot of girl dog. She loves ther animal planet channel too.:D

Or even possibly a neighbor. I've been in my house for about 8 months now, and I got my first remote interferance, probably from a neighbor, a couple of nights ago.
Now I have to go and re-program my learning remote after changing the address on my remote/receiver. What fun.

Not sure about the length. I setup a timer last weekend for the Openning Ceremonies for the first run... and it recorded all 240 minutes of it. Watched it last Saturday night, and it looked just fine.
That other thread you posted David said something about changing the padding. rbyers, did you by change make any changes to the start/end padding times? I know on my timer I either left it as default or changed it to 0/0 (which I'm assuming I did because it was exactly 240 minutes and not 244 minutes). Maybe there is an issue with lenghty timers and non-normal pad times.
Another question rbyers, which time block did you record the openning ceremonies at? I did mine from Midnight - 4a Central. Just curious if there is an issue with it running over 2 calendar days...

I did probably mess with the pads - I thought they were safe for 1-time sat events.
Hmm, I wonder if it's safe to use the pads now. Yet another reason why a comprehensive list of bug fixes would be nice to have. Guess pads would be the subject for a new thread.

No, the pad times were set to the default. It was mid-day, I believe 2-6 pm.
Have never had problems with interference from the neighbors. I do have a cat, and it is possible that the cat did it, but he's never stepped on the remote before.
