View Full Version : Would like to purchase 522, but don't want 2nd cable
Any other way around this? I heard something about a new switch that would eliminate the 2nd feed from the dish.

First, it's very unlikely that you can legally "purchase" a 522. they are stated to be lease-only, but there's reports that some Radio Shacks sell them.
Second, yes, it's possible to eliminate the second cable - for a price. It requires the DPP44 switch and a DPP Separator. It's unlikely that you'll get E* to give you one unless you actually need it (due to 4 satellites).
If you wait long enough, the DPP Twin LNBF will hit the streets and it will drive the DPP Separator, and supports a 3rd satellite. Two outputs, which with the separator will drive 2 boxes - including dual-tuner models, so with x2x boxes, you could have up to 4 tuners.
I just got a 322 setup in my home with dha. What do I have to do to get a 522.

I install a lots of 322 and at one time saw a diagram from E* showing how to install the receiver with diplexer...I can't find it anymore does anyone knows what I am talking about ?

Diplexer (NOT to be confused with separator) simply goes "inboard" of the receiver and switches.
LNBF/Switch ---> Diplexer ---//---> Diplexer ---> Receiver

Thanks SimpleSimon.
Now could you tell me about seperator?

The DishProPlus Separator is a way to avoid having to run a second satellite feed to a x2x box. If you are an installer, you should already know about it. ;)

I have been installing for two years and never heard of it?

OK. I got miffed when you didn't know how to use diplexers OR Separators - but you said you were an installer. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
Anyway, those 2 facts, and you being a newbie here (Welcome aboard, BTW), says you should start start reading and reading. If your company doesn't tell you any of this stuff, you'll be their in-house expert in a matter of a few days. :)
As for the Separator, there's a lot posted on it - here and at satelliteguys.us.
There's a nice thread over there about ways to get as many as 5 satellites online. :D
