I have two TV's on the 2nd tuner in two different rooms. I hate having to carry my remote between rooms and my wife is having a lot of difficulty remembering which TV is controlled in AUX mode.

Will two UHF remotes work with the 522?
Do I have to get a 522 remote or can I go with a cheaper UHF platinum remote?
Will the receiver recognize both remotes?

I picked up a pair of 522 remotes (one IR and one UHF) on ebay for around $36. I didin't need the IR one, but it was still cheaper to buy the pair. Both UHF remotes I have work fine.

I would prefer to spend $16 rather than $36. Does anyone know if the platinum UHF remotes will work?

2 UHF remotes will work with the 522. However, the cheaper UHF platinum remotes will NOT work. The 522 is only compatible with the UHF platinum pro. This is the newest technology remote that dish has. It is available with the 522, 811, 921.

I personally use 2-UHF platinum pro remotes with my 522. I use the #2 remote (blue) that came with the 522 and to keep the confusion to a minimum, I bought a 811 remote off ebay for $9.00. That's right $9.00. The 811 remote is fully compatable with the 522 and you can't get the remotes mixed up because the 811 remote has a silver tab on the bottom of the remote (of course the 522 #2 remote tab is blue).

But best of all, the remotes for the 811 are cheaper than the 522. ;) Do a search on ebay for 811. You will find them cheaper because most people don't know that they are cross compatible with the 522 and the 921. :D

Good Luck!

If you get two 522 UHF remotes, remember you can open one of them up and flip the blue #2 tab over to make it a green #1. Both the IR and UHF remotes that come with the 522 come with a tab that is green "1" on one side and blue "2" on the other.

yes but by flipping it over it switches it form IR to UHF...or vice versa
